who is
chef marie
yniguez?

Chef Marie Yniguez has been featured on Food Network, including winning Chopped, highlighted on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives as well as competing on Beat Bobbie Flay.

"But, more than anything, I was excited to be there representing New Mexico. I'm born and raised here in New Mexico. New Mexico is in my blood and i'm proud to represent it, and my friends, family and community." - Chef Marie Yniguez

SRB’s story
Three years after the closure of the Downtown staple, Yniguez is finding renewed joy in bringing the business back as a food truck that will be permanently stationed at Marble Brewery’s Downtown taproom at 111 Marble NW. Yniguez has dubbed the new iteration SRB Sangwich Shop, in honor of the former business’ full name — Slow Roasted Bocadillos — and a slang variation of the word “sandwich” common in Italian and Latino communities, including New Mexico.
“To get a second chance is a dream come true because not many of us have it,” Yniguez said. “It was a second chance to bring back something that I loved, that I worked so hard on for so many years. I sacrificed everything for it.”
“We love Marie and Karla, and their team. They are special people,” Babincsak said. “Marie’s Albuquerque comfort food is the perfect addition to our Downtown taproom experience. Now people can come to Marble and also get world-class food from one of the best chefs in our city.”
Yniguez didn’t think reopening the business was in the cards, but that changed when the new owners of Marble Brewery, Jarrett Babincsak and Bert Boyce, reached out to Yniguez earlier this year. - ABQ Journal
Supporting ABQ’s Community
For seven years, Yniguez cooked healthy breakfast and lunch options for Albuquerque school children as a part of Bocadillos’ community catering business. What began in 2009 with 50 students at her daughter’s school, Tierra Adentro of New Mexico, evolved into feeding 1,250 students from multiple charter schools. “That was my heart,” she says of the operation, which she hopes to revive as a side gig this year. “These kids are our future. They need sustenance to keep their brains going. And for a lot of them, that was the only meal they had that day, so I wanted them to be full when they went home.” - New Mexico Magazine
